For this project, I collected videos of private moments. I asked several women to record themselves doing solitary, everyday, intimate rituals, to capture the performance of activities normally marked by their ordinariness and silence.
From these videos I selected stills to use as references for tiny paintings. The paintings were exhibited at Richard Heller Gallery in Santa Monica, the former Museum of Broken Relationships in Los Angeles, and Proxy Gallery, which is an actual gallery within a one cubic foot box in Culver City! This self-published book contains 34 of those illustrations. It has been sold at stores around Los Angeles and comic arts festivals around North America.
